Still have problems after Read Run Me 1st

    My daughter's laptop is having some sort of issue I can't figure out. It is a HP Pavillion running Vista Home Premium. It was purchased at Best Buy last September. She works at Best Buy and had one of the Geeks look at it. The Geek thought it was a hardware problem, but I'm thinking the symptomolog points more to software issues.

    The problem is it would lock up with no apparent reason on an irregular basis. It isn't a heat problem, she has it on one of those fan cooler units. I put Advanced System Care on it, and that didn't turn up anything. I also put PCTools Free Antivirus on it. I use both of these on my XP system, but when I ran PCTools on her laptop, it stopped before it got to the end. The computer continued to operate, and when I clicked the end scan button, PCTools seemed to end the scan, but I couldn't clear the program off the screen. When I tried to load the task manager either task manager wouldn't load, or it would load, but not do anything when asked to end PCTools. If I tried to access the start button, it would lock the computer.

    The only thing I noticed about this that might be telling is it always stopped in the same general area of the computer, around 4,000 files in scanning Adobe files in Program Files. After running through the Read & Run Me First cleaning proceedure, the computer seemed to be cured (as I recall SAS repaired over 700 problems), but when I ran PCTools through another scan it still was unable to complete the scan. Tried it twice, both times ended about 40,000 files in scanning files from one of my daughter's Sim games.

    Not sure what else I can tell you, I'm attaching the logs from the cleaning I did, if there's something else you need me to do let me know. Appreciate all the help available here. I was very surprised this didn't work on my daughter's cmputer. I've cleaned up three other ones with it already.
