I have WIN 7 pro machine only a couple of months old. All uptodate.

In the last day I visited a new site to me http://forums.sbo.sailboatowners.com/index.php a couple of times. I used Firefox and twice the site crashed my computer. No other site or process has done this.

The crash is not a BSOD but my screen blanks to a light colour and wobbles/flickers with instability.

The only way back is a hard restart which seems to restore everything to normal.

The obvious workaround is "don't visit this site" but it has interesting stuff (to me) and, more importantly, I'm trying to work out if there is something wrong with my PC which is under warranty

    thanks in advance

    First lets check your Temps.

    Download Speccy
    http://majorgeeks.com/Speccy_d6358.html

Then install then let it load takes 1 or 2 mins.

Then when it finally loads info

    Click on file.
    Then save as text file
Then you can edit it the text file if you like.
Then attach the text file to a attachment on MG in this thread.

    Site works fine for me.

I went there on a 32 bit Windows Home XP desktop and Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit netbook using FF 13.0.1 and had no crashes.

Turn off all your Firefox plugins and try again. Have you tried using IE or any other browser?

Found something else that does it. Google Earth. Does this narrow the possibilities?

    Ok here is a idea

    Open up your Task manager

    And look for plugin-container.exe

This could be causing your problem let me know it will only pop up when firefox is in use.

1.Open Firefox and type about:config and click I’ll be careful , I promise

2.Now search for dom.ipc in Filter box .

3.Double click on each of five entries to set their values to false as shown Below.
dom.ipc.plugins.enabled Make sure this is false to.

4.If you do not see these in the Filter list then you will have to add them. They all have to be false.
    dom.ipc.plugins.enabled.npctrl.dll
    dom.ipc.plugins.enabled.npqtplugin.dll
    dom.ipc.plugins.enabled.npswf32.dll
    dom.ipc.plugins.enabled.nptest.dll

5.Here is how to add the others manually.
6.In the white area click any where.
7.Right click for a Drop box.
    8.Then go down to new.
9.Then make each one a boolean.
10.Make sure each one is False.

There is a Picture Below to show you what it should look like after words.

Indeed there was two versions running. Both had an *32 after them both using different amounts of memory.

There was also two versions of FlashPlayerPlugin_11_3_300_265.exe *32 running as well. Each using different amounts of memory.

The only application running was Firefox with this forum open.

Thanks so much. Have done as you suggested and no crash so far.
Will give it a couple of days before declaring SOLVED> But so far so good.

    Cheers!

SO far okay on Firefox but Google Earth still causes the same crash. Have discovered an upgrade driver for the graphics card which I have downloaded... we'll see if this improves things.

    open to other suggestions.
