Strange mark on processor

I recently looked at my processor and found a strange brownish mark. It looks like a burn. Theres also a slight buldge in the middle of it. I have pictures but the arent very good so i won't post them unless someone thinks it will help. Could this be related to the moniter problems i've been having?

ugh, burnt-looking bulge cant be too good but at least its still running!

 

It's not very focused but you can still see what im talking about. Maybe i'll try taking more pictures later.

 

Socket A (462) AthlonXP???? If so, these CPU's get discolorations fairly often without causing problems. But a bulge can't be good. Could be that it overheated and something inside expanded a bit. Was the CPU overclocked?

This is definately not good, but if it works...

Keep a close eye on your cooling though.

 

I think it may have been overclocked when I got it, but there wasn't anything about it being overclocked on the website.

 

same thing happened to mine a while back,its just sa well you noticed it now than later,change it as soon as you can,it will stop functioning and will
cause overheating problems to your motherboard and cause damage sooner than
later, your better safe than sorry,
