stubborn adware won't go away!

    I've done all the READ & RUN ME FIRST: AdAware, CCleaner, etc. Also ran Error Expert, which corrected about 50 items. Nothing in Bit Defender but Panda did find the attached. Here are HJT, BD and Panda logs.

    I have a HP Pavilion, Intel Celeron proc., running XP Pro 2002 with 598 MHz and 128 MB RAM. All I do on this machine is type transcription, so I only have MS Office loaded plus Firefox and Acrobat Reader. Persistent pop-ups interfere with work.

    Your biggest problem is that your system is way out of date. You do not have nay of the necessary Windows updates required to keep you secure.

    Your second biggest problem is that you have no reealtime antispyware application installed and to make it worse, you have no firewall.

    You did not follow the directions in the READ & RUN ME. Since you have an outdated Windows OS version and could not run Windows Defender, you were supposed to install and run a scan with CounterSpy and attach the log.

    Also you did not follow the directions in step 7 for installing and running HijackThis. In fact you installed it exactly where the directions specify not to install it. You must fix this NOW before contiuing.

    You have not apparent malware but your IE_Spy software from Kennsington seems to be broken according to HijackThis:
    O2 - BHO: IEHlprObjClass - {CE7C3CF0-4B15-11D1-ABED-709549C10000} - C:\Program Files\Kensington\MouseWorks\IE_SPY.DLL (file missing)


    Perhaps you are just getting popups from Windows Messenger or due to the sites you are accessing and the fact that you have no protection.

    Try running the below to remove Windows Messenger:

    Disable/Remove Windows Messenger
