I recently had some stupid Internet Explorer toolbar that appeared, and I was able to delete all of the files.. or so I thought.

It started after I clicked on a link.. the browser locked up for over a minute and made a bunch of loading sounds. I got several java virus alerts pop up and denied access to all of them, then force-quit the browser.

I loaded the browser back up and had all kinds of toolbar extras that I did NOT give permission for download or installation. It had an option to 'X Remove Toolbar' but when clicked, it would just open another window to a search engine.

I checked the Programs Folder and found a new folder called UnSpyPc or something.. I deleted ALL of it';s contents and closed the browser! I opened it back and the toolbar was now gone and I figured the entire problem was solved.

I think did a check of newly installed programs with the Search program that is located in the Start menu! When I rolled my mouser over this one insall program, my virus program alerted me it was a trojan, so I removed it!

I thought everything was finally gone.. and was suprised because I know how hard it is to remove a hijacker/trojan/spyware. I've dealt with one before that took me a couple of hours or rebooting in safe mode and all before it was officially gone.. but I thought I had removed this very quickly!

Then when I booted up today, I got some crappy sidebar on my desktop that I can't seem to get rid of.

I don't know the name of the file, and when I open task manager, I don't see any new named files running. I did go and shutdown ones I don't really know what do, but that only screwed up everything and I had to reboot again.

Here is a screenshot of the sidebar.

Also another note I might add.. since I deleted all of the other crap from the computer last night, I don't think this side bar even works now.. when I roll the mouser over it, I get a little progress box that says 'loading' and nothing ever happens.

But the sidebar is still fairly annoying and I want it removed.

Does anyone know how I can get rid of this?

    Thanks for the help! :)

Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.

    Please follow the steps below:

    - Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support

Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.

    - Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.

After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:

    Downloading, Installing, and Running HijackThis

Ok I have most of those programs.. and the ones I didn't have, I downloaded! I have also ran two of the suggested online virus scanners which DID find and remove stuff from my previous problem.. however the desktop bar is still here!

When scanning with CWShredder, it did find something called CWS.msconfd, but when I tried to remove it, the program quit responding!

I went to safemode and when I ran it again to delete the file, I got a blue screen and had to reboot. I did run spybot, ad-aware, and my anti virus program (antivir) which took 3 times as long to scan in safe mode than regular mode.. 49 - 71 minutes.

    They found nothing!

The only thing I have not done was run a hijackthis log.

I'm wondering if anything will even show because I removed the most hurtful parts of the junk.. maybe this sidebar doesn't even show as a virus because it was just a program that ran off of the virus that has been removed.

However I will post the log as attachment now!

Did you make sure they are all the same versions as our links indicate and that you have current definitions for all?

You have not posted your HijackThis log as an attachment yet.
