Suddenly, all audio sources have excessive reverb!

Upon startup today, all audio had overly prominent reverb. I looked for extraneous changes in sound-card settings. Nothing obvious. I then did a RESTORE to an earlier date. No joy.

I have Near-field Monitors (Berringer MS-40s) and good computer speakers in a standard stereo configuration, Nothing exotic.

My sound-card is a Realtek High Definition and it reports: Working Properly.

Any suggestions, please? :cry

Have a look at the settings of the Realtek program. There should be an icon in the Notification Area.

 

Eldon, I didn't get any notification or error messages. Everything SEEMED normal other than the objectionable reverb.

I tweaked it somewhat but it almost approaches an echo. Sonically very tiring.

Does the excessive reverb occur in different media players?

Just as mysteriously, the problem disappeared. I haven't a clue what caused it, nor what cured it! Another one of those Sacred Mysteries, me thinks!
