    Hi!:wave

Ive already had help on one computer (and it wa really great!!) but now the time has come to fix my other (workhorse) computer. So, for a month or two, my Symantec firewall has become disabled and it is no longer possible for me to enable it - when you try and open the program nothing happens, and when you right lick on the taskbar icons the only menu options that appears, is "about Symantec Fireall". :confused

Anyway, I did everything you said in the directions. Panda found a couple of spyware, but the other things seem to be clean...

I attach the logs of the various programs... Please help me have a safe computer again :)

You did not attach the requested log from CounterSpy however I doubt it found anything of significance. You don't have any malware. Thus you can uninstall CounterSpy.

You do need to uninstall your two old Sun Java versions and install the currect version as requested in step 6 of the READ ME.

Uninstall the below old versions of software:
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 6
    Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment 6 Update 1

Make sure you reboot after uninstalling the above!

After reboot, now install the current version of Sun Java from: Sun Java Runtime Environment

You problem with Symantec' s firewall may just require a reinstall. I suggest you uninstall it, reboot (DO NOT SKIP) then run this Norton Removal Tool (SymNRT) Then reboot again and then reinstall all the Symantec software.

    Hi, Thanks for your help!

I did everything you said. The firewall still does not work. I played around some more and I get the following error

    Error: "Runtime Error! . . .C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\Nmain.exe. . .R6025 - Pure virtual function call" when running Norton Firewall.

I have searched the net and a lot of people have had this problem. I have tried all the suggestions:
    1) Renaming RpaWinet.dll. (I couldnt do this, I could not find such file)
    2) looking for hosts files and removing all non localhost enries (there were none)

    But nothing works.

I dont know if this is your cup of tea, but any suggestions would be great!

    Thanks!!!

It's actually not an issue for this forum since it is not malware. It is really a software issue and would be better suited in the Sotware Forum. Did you properly configure Windows Search when you looked for RpaWinet.dll ?

Our actual recommendation in this forum would be to uninstall ALL of the Symantec software and use something else. Things we recommend are in the below link and they are free and work better, are less resource hungry, and do not get broken as frequently as Symantec.
