symantic nightmare

Hi A friend gave me his computer and asked if I could help him. Symantic/Norton has been removed and there is no dick. The start up say an INI file has been lost. The error is as listed below:
C:\PROGRA~1\SYMANTEC\SYMEVNT.386
C:\PROGRA~1\NORTON~2\NORTON~1\SAVRTPEL.VXD
C:\PROGRA~1\NORTON~2\NORTON~1\SAVRJ.VXD

It is a window 98 o/s on a dell. I now it is old but the people that own it are old as well and on a low income and I thought I would try to help them out. I think if I can remove the norton av program it will be fine but when I try to uninstall it is not listed. All help will be appreciated.

 

You say that Norton is uninstalled. You cant remove it twice.

If the computer still boots up and runs you can simply search for the files you listed and manualy remove them.
