I recently reinstalled the OS on a Compaq nx9010 laptop. I reinstalled all the drivers that were on the recovery CD's. Everything seems to work OK, bu the touchpad won't allow you to "tap".

You can use the touchpad just fine, but when you want to click or double-click, you need to use the "mouse" buttons located just below the touchpad. The touchpad no longer responds to taps.

What might have happened? Everything looks OK in Device Manager.

I think there is a Synaptics program you can run/install to configure the touch pad settings. Check the control panel.

yeah usually it would be there, or in the "mouse" section in the control panel

Go have a look on the Compaq website, if you're using XP I'm pretty sure there is a new driver available
