    Hello All,

I have a WinXP SP2 workstation, fully patched. On this machine, I am trying to install ODBC drivers. However, Windows File Protection keeps overwriting two key dlls that will allow me to configure an ODBC link. This is REALLY frustrating.

Steps I've taken as a workaround include:

Adding a .bak extension to the dlls in %systemroot%\system32\dllcache
    Changing registry key:
HKLM\software\microsoft\windows nt\current version\winlogon\sfcdisable to a decimal value of 1. (supposedly disables WFP according to the KB)

    There is no registry key:
HKLM\software\policies\microsoft\windows nt\windows file protection\sfcdisable , so I know that the previous key is not being overridden.

    These haven't worked.

I'm tempted to delete the dlls in cache, so I can at least establish the ODBC link, or even replace them with the ones I WANT to use, but I would prefer to temporarily disable WFP....anyone have any suggestions?
