Toshiba HD in old Compaq laptop...

    I've spent some time looking around the web, and have had no luck finding Toshiba's hard drive diagnostic tool. Does such a thing even exist? I'm working on an older Compaq laptop, and the HD won't get past 1% in defrag (Win98)... any links? ideas?

    The PC seems to run OK, but I think the HD may be failing....

    AFAIK Toshiba does not have a HDD diag utility for their drives however you can try the IBM/Hitachi HDD diag utility and that may work. Also the Maxtor diag util may recognize the drive as well. Good luck.
