Transfering data through Local-area network

    I want to know how to transfer data from my computer down stairs to the one upstairs. They are connected to the same router.

    can you see the other computer on the network?

    What OS are they running?
    Enable file sharing, run Network wizard.
    Each computer need different Name, Both computer's must be on the same workgroup.
    Router may need some settings adj.
    If running firewall's may need some settings adj.

    First set the Network sharing, and than map the drive.

    At that point it is like copy files from one drive to the other.
