transfering large files 1G plus over the internet

whats a simple and safe way to transfer files 1Gig or more over the internet.
do any of the email providers allow 1G files to be transferred?

This one will allow up to 2gb but only holds the file for two weeks though so not good for long term self storage but to move big files it works well.
