Trasferring a Database

Has anyone ever transferred a database from one host to another?

I have been reading what I can find but kind of confusing. Seems to be quite tricky.

Something about a 2meg limit on database upload and having to split the file?

Some articles say to gzip it and some say no compression.....some say transfer one trable at a time and some say split the file.......

Then there's editing the config file.....

 

you talkin about mysql database? You need to export the database as SQL then just put that code into the new database. I dont know about 2 meg limits.
