I had this virus get onto my computer yesterday. I ran AVG, spybot, and swat it. The only thing that seems to remotely get at it is AVG, and it found it...said it was in documents & settings/local settings (which i dont see in doc and settings)/temp/temporary internet files.

I took the advice from an old post about this virus and ran in safe mode, and then I need some help, do I drop system restore then? or before or what?

Also, it messed up my wireless internet connection, so I cant establish a connection with linksys, also I cant use windows media player. Any advice, tips, links or help?

    Thanks in advance.

The best that I could find

This article suggests that a combo of SpyBot Search and Destroy and AdAware will take care of this.

I always disable System Restore and then restart before doing AV work. This clears all of your restore points.

I could find nothing under "downloader. dyfica.v at any major AV site (symantec, pestpatrol, grisoft, lavasoft) :)

hmm, ok ty for the help boccemon. One thing that I find curious is that when I start the comp up in safe mode, I cant run AVG says something about me not having a core something or another, then I reboot in regular mode and my AVG seems to want to work again, any suggestions on what I can do?

Well, I've been reading about this trojan. I've read on several sites that it's relatively easy to get rid of.

    1. Disable system restore
2.run AdAware, remove what it suggests.
    3. Restart
    4. Run spybot and remove what it suggests if anything.
    5. Restart.
    6. Re-enable System Restore.
    7. Rescan. If dyfica.v is found, disable system restore again and restart. go to
www.housecall.trendmicro.com and let it do a scan. Several posts in other forums suggest that housecall can kill it as a last resort.
    Hope this helped!!
