I am having trouble with Firefox. I launch it and it freezes before I can click anywhere.

When it does not freeze it won't open. I go to the Ctrl+Alt+Del and go to processes. I close all instances of Firefox.

When I go to open it, I get "Do you want to open in Safe Mode or Reset.

It does not seem to matter what I pick, it either does not open or freezes when it does.

I have run, Malwarebytes Malware, AVG Virus protection, SUPERAntiSpyware and deleted or quarantined what I could.

I have rebooted and re installed Firefox so many times it's laughable.

I don't think my system is all that healthy either.

    Can anyone help???

    Thanks in advance.....

rbaron, could you post a little bit about your system?

    processor/ram/free space on hd
    age of main hard drive
    operating system
    anti-virus program
    cleaners you use

You say you don't think your system is in good health. Anything else specific you are noticing with other programs?

To start, you might do well to see if Firefox has a repair feature built into the add/remove area (where you uninstall programs). I suppose it could be the same repair feature you have already tried, but it might be worth it to see, anyway.

One other question, when you re-installed, did you uninstall first? Just making sure your extensions weren't there after your re-install. If they were, could be an extension problem...

    OK, I'm running a;

HP Model P6620f, 64bit machine. It has 6 Gig of RAM with a 2.80 GHz processor. The hard drive has 640 gig of free space.

    What I use to clean.....

    1. MalwarebytesAntiMalware v. 1.75.0.1300
    2. AVG Anti Virus v. 8.5.445
    3. SuperAntiSpyware v. 4.27.1000
    4. Advanced System Care Pro v. 6.1.9.221

When I say the system is not in good health, I mean that everytime I need or have to reboot, a "progress bar" or some people call it the thermometer bar starts and I don't know what caused it to all of a sudden start.

I also get a few messages like, "Can't find the program yplayer.exe." I search for yplayer and can't find it. I also looked in my startup and nothing says start yplayer.

Also after a few reboots a porn movie just starts playing. I have no idea why that is happening. Does not show itself on every reboot but it does happen.

I will try and reinstall Firefox again. What I don't want to do is lose all of my bookmarks. Is there a way to save them, uninstall Firefox, reinstall it and then reload the bookmarks?

    Thanks for the help.....

OK...it sounds like you definitely have something strange happening. I recommend starting a new thread in the Malware Removal board here:

    http://forums.majorgeeks.com/forumdisplay.php?f=35

You could essentially use your previous post here in this thread to explain the problem. Just add the bits about Firefox and adjust it a little bit so it sounds like a first post...
