i've been battling something for months now. i keep thinking i've gotten it under control then it morphs (albeit maybe different problems...). right now the problem seems to be only affecting my internet browsers. i primarily use mozilla now. finding that i'm lucky to get connected to any website. i've radio tower internet - i've talked to my provider & they show i have a strong connection with no breakups. been finding pages either time out or say that the server was disconnected. or for some reason the page transfers to ask.com (which i've never used before). not sure about the ask.com bit - but could the rest be a result of the online armour i recently downloaded? i followed, to the best of my abilities, all the advice given on this site. it has taken me 3 days to get through it due to horrible horrible connection & therefore very difficult to access pages & even more difficult to download things. i've attached 3 logs - do you need any others? i can't say how much i appreciate the help.

okay - think i've figured out the internet bit. the firewall i'd installed & i didn't understand each other. we've broken up after a short relationship - i've removed it. i am now using outpost firewall pro - we seem to understand each other as i can now access the internet easily again.

so i'm thinking, hoping, crossing my fingers that my system is now clean. if you see anything please let me know.

this site rocks! i feel like my system is now clean, protected & under control. all from going through this sites advice on removing malware & ongoing protection of my computer. love it.

You need to attach the C:\ MGLogs.zip to be sure you are clean.

Sweet......If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:

    1. We recommed you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no real time protection. They are useful as backup scanners. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /u
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /u, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.

      • Delete the C:\combofix folder from combofix (if it exists)

    3. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    4. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    6. You can delete the C:\MGtools folder and the C:\MGtools.exe file. You can also delete the C:\MGlogs.zip
    7. If you are running Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning steps in the READ ME for your Window version and see the steps to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.

    8. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

seems i installed combofix incorrectly as it is not coming off the way described. is there a link for those like me so that I can remove the hidden stuff & reset the correct windows things?
    danke

You can manually remove it by deleting:
the ComboFix.exe file, C:\ComboFix folder, C:\QooBox folder, C:\WINDOWS\nircmd.exe, C:\combofix.txt and C:\ComboFix-quarantined-files.txt logs that was created.

If you still have system files showing, then open my computer and click on tool / folder options / view and hide the files.

Your clock can be reset by going to the control panel / Regional and Lang. / customize / time and set it to the format you prefer.
