I've gone thru the hijack this instructions and removed everything suggested but every time I do another scan I get 4 entries of "trusted zones" that should be gone but keep returning. My about:blank homepage problem and "only the best" pop ups and new favorites problem all seemed to be gone but then I pulled up my search option and it all came back. I know I am missing something but not sure what.

Have you run all the steps in this Sticky thread READ ME FIRST BEFORE ASKING FOR SUPPORT: Basic Spyware, Trojan And Virus Removal . If not, please do so. Then if you still have a problem, follow the guidelines below and post your log as specified. Make sure you follow the guidelines below in order to avoid delaying the reading of your HJT log.

Make sure you have HijackThis 1.99 and follow the guidelines on where to install it and how to post a log as an attachment. This is all covered in the sticky thread NO HIJACK THIS LOG FILES BEFORE READING THIS: HJT Tutorial & LOG File Posting

Now post a HijackThis log as an attachment to your message (Do not post the log inline). All running programs should be closed, including your web browser, e-mail. Close before running Hijack This!

To repeat: Do NOT run Hijack This from the Desktop, a temp folder, or a sub-folder of C:\Documents and Settings, or choose to run it directly from the downloaded ZIP file. Place it in its own folder, for example C:\Program Files\HJT

OK, I have run all the scans in that link. More things were removed but on the hijack this scan I still can't get rid of the "trusted zones" that are bad. Should I post a HJ scan?

The about:blank and only the best isnt happening but if I open the search assistant on IE, it changes it and the about:blank and pop ups come back.

Re: Sorry to post again but I did suggestions and still

have a problem. The trusted sites I delete off Hijackthis keep coming back (see previous post with Hijackthis attached). I did everything suggested to this point. The about:blank, pop-ups and favorite additions have all stopped but if I click on IE search button...they all come back. I won't click on that button again but would like to get rid of everything if possible. Please take a look. I really appreciate your help as this help is extremely valuable to computer dummies like me!

Re: Sorry to post again but I did suggestions and still

You did not follow directions on where to put HijackThis. You are running it from the ZIP file.

    C:\Documents and Settings\Tony Vitiello\Local Settings\Temp\Temporary Directory 2 for hijackthis(2547).zip\HijackThis.exe

Please extract it from the ZIP file into the folder specified.

Was that log from safe mode? If so, logs should be from normal boot mode.
Why are you running you system with no anti virus application?
Why are you running you system with no spyware blocking application?
Why are you running you system with no firewall?

You need to do the following:

Copy the contents of the Quote Box below to Notepad. Then click File and then Save As. Change the Save as Type to All Files. Name the file move.reg and then click save. (make sure you save it somewhere you can find it. Saving it to your Desktop may make that easy.)
Double-click on the move.reg file on your desktop (or locate it with Windows Explorer and double click on it if not saved to the Desktop) and when it prompts to merge say yes.

Then you must go do the steps in the below link to get your system protected:
