turn on the computer and power light goes on but screen remains black

power light comes on but the screen remains black there is no sound nor any flickers please help operating hp 2000 dual core windows 7 thank you very much!

 

If this is a notebook PC, try connecting an external monitor to the VGA port. If the display comes up on the external monitor, it points to an issue with the screen.

If there is no display on an external monitor connected to a notebook PC, it points to an issue with the motherboard and will require a professional diagnosis.
