    I'm not sure what could have caused this, I was just doing my normal stuff on the internet (checking email, visiting a forum, etc). I was unable to download combofix (it kept telling me either it couldn't read the server or it wasn't a valid Win32 application). I previously had SuperAntiSpyware and Malware Bytes on my computer and I had to manually install the updates from the links in the cleaning procedure thread. I have AVG Free 8.5 and it says it can't connect to the server to update. My Firefox keeps crashing and at times won't load any pages. I was also unable to perform a System Restore. I tried several dates.

    Logs for SAS, Mbam, and MGTools are attached. Thank you.

    Let's start with this and see if you have some improvements:

    download The Avenger by Swandog469, and save it to your Desktop.

    * Extract avenger.exe from the Zip file and save it to your desktop
    * Run avenger.exe by double-clicking on it.
    * Do not change any check box options!!
    * Copy everything in the Quote box below, and paste it into the Input script here: part of the window:

    * Now click the Execute button.
    * Click Yes to the prompt to confirm you want to execute.
    * Click Yes to the Reboot now? question that will appear when Avenger finishes running.
    * Your PC should reboot, if not, reboot it yourself.
    * A log file from Avenger will be produced at C:\avenger.txt and it will popup for you to view when you login after reboot.

    Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this and also attach the log from Avenger.

    Thanks for your help. I tried to double-click on the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file but nothing happened except my desktop blinked and seemed to reload, so I ran MGtools again from the exe file. Attached are that log and the Avenger log.

    Also wanted to mention that my searches are hijacked now...when I use my Yahoo toolbar or Google, the search results links all lead me to pages filled with ads. I did try to DL ComboFix in Safe Mode and I got the same error.

    Avenger says the reg key and file do not exist, yet they show in your logs.

    You still have TeaTimer running.
    * Run Spybot and click Mode
    * Select Advanced Mode.
    * Then click Tools and select Resident.
    * Now in the right window pane, uncheck TeaTimer.
    * Also while this is open, in the left column now select IE Tweaks
    * and then in the right pane make sure all the Miscellaneous locks are unchecked.
    * Now quit Spybot!

    Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixME.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
    Make sure that you tell me if you receive a success message about adding the above
    to the registry. If you do not get a success message, it definitely did not work.

    Now use windows explorer to find and delete:
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\qywddnc.gnw

    Tell me if you can find it.

    I want you to remove all your toolbars and add-ons. Type the address into your browser and tell me if you still get re-directs.

    Run CCleaner.

    Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file.

    I disabled Tea Timer (I'm sorry, I could've sworn I had it disabled already).

    I was unable to merge, it told me that it could not import it because the specified file was not a registry script and you can only import binary registry files from within the registry editor.

    I was finally able to DL and run ComboFix because I had someone email me the file. Log is attached. It deleted several files, including many with the name "Rave" and the C:\WINDOWS\system32\qywddnc.gnw. Since then my searches are no longer hijacked but I am still running excruciatingly slow. It reverted my clock to military time and I can't figure out how to change it back too. :confused

    Attached is the new MGTools log.

    I've also noticed that when I open my Windows Task Manager now, my CPU usage is constantly at 100%.

    I am not seeing any malware in your logs. The issue of slowness could be many things that will cause this.

    When we remove Combo your clock should revert. If it doesnt you only need to go to the control panel / regional and lang / customize / time and set it to the format you prefer.

    Tell me exactly what malware issus you still have. If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:

    1. We recommed you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no real time protection. They are useful as backup scanners. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /u
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /u, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.

      • Delete the C:\combofix folder from combofix (if it exists)

    3. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    4. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    6. You can delete the C:\MGtools folder and the C:\MGtools.exe file. You can also delete the C:\MGlogs.zip
    7. If you are running Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning steps in the READ ME for your Window version and see the steps to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.

    8. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
