One of our laptops in our office network is having a strange problem. The laptop can log onto the domain just fine, see files, networked drives, etc. It can ping the servers just fine too. However, if I try pinging the laptop from the server, I cannot.

It, the laptop, runs XP Pro and the windows firewall is turned off. It's important to be able to access this laptop as we sometimes remote into it from home to do work. Obviously, we can't remote into it either. The remoting is enabled, firewall is off, etc. We've been remoting into it for months but since it came back from a conference, it hasn't worked.

DHCP is enabled now when we had a static IP set before. That shouldn't make any difference. I've run ipconfig to see what its new IP is and that is the IP I try to ping.

    Any ideas?

How exactly is your network setup? (Routers, Switches, Hubs)

Does your Laptop get a Private IP or a Public IP?

What is the IP Address your Laptop gets?

Do you have any Internet Security Software installed on your Laptop?
