I, too, am currently running into something similiar.

    System in question:
    Windows XP Pro SP2 / IE8.0 / Norton IS 2010

System is connected to a hub which then connects to the internet through a router/switch. Other system hooked up on this same "network" is running just fine on all accounts.

Two User Setup: Administrator & User

When logged in under Admin, I am able to surf the internet with no problems what so ever. But... when I am logged in under the User, I cannot even bring up Google without getting "page/site cannot be displayed". However, there are 1 maybe 2 sites under the Favorites which if I click on those, I am able to hit those sites without issue.

Now... I have, under the User, already tried various things: turning off Norton/firewall, bringing up Command Prompt and running various IP cleaners (flushdns; winsock reset; etc), deleting the internet adapter file (then reinstalling it after bootup), even ran a Winsock XP Fix program... no luck on all accounts.

Even though under User, I cannot get to Google various other programs that use/need the internet connection to work/update still work without issue.

I am at a loss as to where to look, what to do to resolve this problem.

    Open to any/all suggestions..... thanks

If you create another user, say user2, do you have the same problem?
