Undeliverable Email Message

Within the last four days we are unable to deliverable email messages to our brother. We use Win 8.1 Pro and Vipre. The error message we get is:
    >>>"his email address" (after RCPT TO): 553 your IP (69.168.102.197) is on our block list. Visit http://www.linuxmagic.com/power_of_ip_reputation.html for more information

If we try to go to the linuxmagic web site we get blocked by Vipre. If we paste the address in FireFox we have no problem going to the site. It then says the the IP 69.168.102.197 is on their list of RATS malware.

We have run a complete scan of both our computers using Vipre and Malwarebytes clearing out many possible unwanted programs. We then try sending a test email which still fails.

Our question. Is that ip address ours or the brothers. If it is ours how can we change it?

Thank you so much for any suggestions or help.

IP Lookup: http://whatismyipaddress.com/ip-lookup (Yours will show up automatically when you click on that link)

69.168.102.197 looks like it is listed as being in Buffalo NY and is 'Likely Mail Server': http://whatismyipaddress.com/mail-server which I would think means that it is probably not either of your IPs.

It looks like the server you or your brother is using is blacklisted on a few databases:

There's a lot of info out there on how your mail server winds up blacklisted. Here's one: http://smallbusiness.chron.com/mailserver-blacklisted-36688.html

FYI....if your email is the one being blocked, you might want to contact your ISP and find out what you can do about it...or what they'll do about it.

If you just started having this issue, you should make sure your machine (or your brother's) is clean.

Thank you Laura. So much info for a geek handicapped me. I gather that one of our servers is black listed somewhere. My question is would I be getting this error on many if not all of my outgoing e-mails? Between my wife and I that would be a couple of dozen a day.

If not then I have to assume it is the brothers server that is blocked by our Vipre because Vipre uses one of the blacklisting services.

    Again thank you

Just got your second reply. The only blockage is our outgoing to her brother in Taos. None of the other couple of dozen sent each day to all kinds of business and family.

    Again thank you Laura

If it's just to her brother it could be whatever Antivirus or other email protection utility he is using.

Thank you again Laura. This has gotten even stranger. We use Wildblue.net as our isp. It is a part of Excede Satellite system. I get other people's messages to the support group at Excede. Another person, unknown to us, has posted the IDENTICAL problem on that forum (other than the email address). Same ip, same error, only one outgoing address bad, same everything. She is thinking it is Excede's fault. But if that were true I am back to why not all our email's going out?

I would definitely call your ISP's tech support and go through the issue with them. That's always the best place to start with something like this...especially when you've found that others have had the same issue:

Your other option which is easy is just creating a new email address such as one through Gmail. It's a pain as far as the first few weeks and letting people know, but gmail and other services are often much better than a lot of ISP provided emails.

Hooray, hooray, hooray! Apparently the problem, whatever it was, has been fixed. I just tried a test email to the brother and it went through.

Thank you for the suggestions and help.
