unexpected i/o error

    I have a hp compaq AMD64 Athlon X2 running Win 8.1.

    Yesterday, I had a power failure. When the power came on I had the blue screen of death saying, "

    Unexpected I/O error
    File:\Boot\BCD
    error code 0xc00000e9

    I narrowed the error down to th HD with the operating system on it.

    Is there any way I can fix this without reformatting?
