Unhiding files on internal hard drive converter?

And I got it all connected, and it reads as though it has 60gb of info on it, but when I click on the drive and open it up, there are no files near that big. In fact all the file sizes add up to only 2gb.

I actually hid the folders when I originally had the laptop up and running. But now I believe they are still hidden and I need to know how to unhide/find them.

    Can anybody help?

What OS are you using on the PC? Do you remember how you hid the folders? Did you just go to the folder's properties and select hidden?

Vista OS is on this laptop, but it was under xp that the old laptop had.

Yes all I did was go to folders and select hide. I went to my appearances section and unhid all files/folders, but it did nothing.

So I just wanted to tell everyone how I solved my problem.

I was clicking on all my files and looking for sizes to hunt down my data, and all of them seem to be saying 1gb or whatever when I was looking for a 60gb file.

Really I just clicked on all my folders/subfolders and finally saw it. took forever, but manually I found it.

For some reason my outer folder, "Documents and Settings" still says it's under a gb, but I have found it so my interest in that riddle is gone.

Thanks all for trying to help.

Glad you found your files. :) I was trying to remember a good program for finding used disk space to recommend but couldn't find one that would definitely find hidden files.

WinDirStat is good but won't always show hidden files depending on their properties. Amust Drive Cleaner seems to have been removed from MG's list of applications so I couldn't test it but I remember it being good for hidden files.

This morning I remembered the one I wanted but I guess I am too late. SpaceSniffer works to ridiculous detail but sometimes that is what you need. Just thought I would post it in case anyone needed a current app that works with Win7.
