    Hi,

All of a sudden my right-click menus started showing up transparent with only outer shadow being visible. So I rebooted.

During the reboot I'm smacked in the face with a BSOD. Gross.

This is what it had to say:

    UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME

    stop 0xED (0x872D3BF0, 0xC0000006, 0x0, 0x0)

    --------------------------------------------------------------

And then from this point on all it did was BootLOOP. Last Good Config=BootLOOP, Safe Modes=BootLOOP.

The last time I had an issue booting up I was able to fix this by repairing my current install with my XP setup disc.

However, this time when I attempted to do so there was no current Windows install detected.

My partition was showing up as [Unknown] on the list.

Can someone please advise me on how to get my install back?

Or is this the END? I really don't want to do a fresh install.

    Thanks!

Ok, so I am starting to panic here. I can't lose whats on this partition.

I took the drive out of my laptop and connected it to this laptop as an external usb HD.

I have 4 partitions on the problem HD and all 4 showed up in My Computer.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

But when I tried to open the partition that all my data is on
    I received this message:

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Then I tried to right-click on it and open Properties.
    This is what I saw:

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

But the Partition is showing up when I populate Volume
    Is this good??

I tried to run CHKDSK as well. But it does nothing. Window just closes.

^See for yourself. I recorded exactly what is happening too.

You have a RAW partition. Possible a screwed up partition table. As you probably already know, do not write any data to the drive. Personally, I would start with the MiniTool software to recover your data first and then try and do a repair.

You can try to fix it by going in XP recovery console and clicking repair.

You can try MiniTool Power Data Recovery 6.0 which is free for home use.

How to recover data from RAW hard drive

Last option would to use TestDisk. Be sure to read the Step by Step instructions.

I'd use TestDisk first to gain some clues about what the problem is before deciding the safest route to recovering the data.

satrow is right. By using TestDisk you will get an idea of what the problem is before continuing on the repair.
