    The Device Manager reads "BLANK"
    But it is not empty.When I click on the + sign
    in front of the icon it opens, my devices are there;
    here are some of the problems I've had.
    I was unable to connect to the internet.
    my System was a mess, things were thrown every which way
    some of my programs were missing,or not working
    properly or not working period.
    Programs like WMP did not work, outlook express,
    was not working, windows media center edition,
    cannot be found, although this is what the system starts with.
    "WindowsXP Media center edition"
    When the Computer is idle, the media center icon
    is just hopping around the screen.
    I cannot find it anywhere else.
    I have since re-connected, my service; outlook express.
    and WMP is up again.There are lots more problems,
    I have not found or listed.
    I have taken a look at what's posted on this site,

    Hello Steve _East9
    Thanks for your answer!
    First I apologize, for not following up
    on my July post; I had the same problem then, that
    I'm having now (how to answer, how to phase
    my questions and answers)
    I did not knowingly post this twice, It could
    have been done through something stupid I did.
    I apologize.
    however I've already done most or all of what
    is suggested here;
    I have used CCleaner:
    AVG anti spyware; Cwshredder,
    "AVG,ad-aware, PC tools spyware doctor"
    is always on;
    I have been getting rid of unwanted programs;
    I have been working on this since we change the
    time earlier last month.I thought this was the cause.
    I had change the time, in the spring; It was supposed,
    to automatically change again in theFall, well this did not happen,
    it changed in October; I changed it manually, and thought I'll
    get it straightened out in November;it's all set right now;
    I don't believe that was the cause though;
    I will now try the "Malware removal forum";
    and post back;
    (I think this is where I came in)
    perhaps you will remove one of the posts,
    Thanks again

    Hello steve_East9
    I did the Read & Run Me First Malware Removal guide,
    I followed the instructions exactly, as stated.
    I even un installed my copy of Spybot Search & Destroy,
    and installed the one on this site.(the results were"Congratulations!
    No immediate threats were found")
    there were no hints of spyware with any scan I did.
    (I had done quite a few scans, before I wrote to this site)
    I downloaded the AVG Anti-spyware, and installed it;
    I started the scan, quite suddenly the entire screen was covered,
    with a dark blue page,with all sorts of dire warning I can't
    Remember all I read. I remember one suggestion to continue
    if I had not seen this before,but there was no way to do this.
    I could not use the mouse,or the arrow keys.
    I shut down the computer by using power button;
    next morning I got on again,and was greeted,
    by a message "windows recovered from a serious error"
    or words to that effect.
    My AVG was missing,
    My ad-aware is not working,and again I cannot connect to
    the internet.
    and since my startup is set
    at normal, these things are just spilling out at me.
    I don't think I want to continue with this,
    it's very hard to do.
    I thank you, for your kind thoughts
    best regards'

    Hello Steve_East9
    I'm sorry I made such a Fool of my self.
    I did misunderstand you, it is very hard to understand
    the various Forums, and know that your post,
    will move by stages.
    .It is hard for someone like me to figure that out.
    I should leave this for some young person,
    who still have some brains left.
    I can't go through that again.
    I will unsubscribe from this thread.
    I thank you, for your help and patience.
    best regards
    JuliaH
