Unusual need: IP to hostname and then some

So I can't figure out how to do something kind of special. I have a software package (in bldg A) that connects to some equipment (in Bldg B). Both have basic routers and broadband internet access. The routers have been configured to allow the proper ports for this communications to take place.

What works: Entering the specific internet IP address of Bldg B into the software pkg in Bldg A, does allow the communications to take place.

Problem1-The internet address is not static, so at some point the software will point to the wrong location.

So I setup a TZO Lite DNS utility that tracks the current IP address of Bldg B and creates an internet 'hostname' to match. Lets say mysys.tzo.com. When I ping that hostname, the correct IP comes up.

So if I could plug in the hostname into the software package, all should be fine. But the software pkg does not allow a hostname. Just an IP address.

THE BOTTOM LINE: So I need a way for the software package to get an IP address that actually resolves to the 'mysys.tzo.com' which will always point to the remote building.

Any ideas?

Besides going in and resolving the host name to an IP address manually each time, I don't see any other way around this particular situation you have. Hopefully someone on the boards here is more knowledgeable about these things and has another idea, but it sounds like you've got yourself a sticky situation.
