Go to http://www.update.microsoft.com/ and check the update history (on the left-hand pane); what is the error code for that particular update?

And one more question: what is your Windows XP service pack level?

 

Service pack 3 winXP

 

There is no error code - just the word "failed" in the update history.
I tried downloading the executable and get the same result "Failed to install catalog files"
