    Hi all,
after a fresh install of windows me my monitor can only display 16 colours, i've heard that updating video drivers is usually the right step for this problem.
How do I find out which drivers I need to install? Not sure what card I have got!
I know its an extreme noob question but any help would be much appreciated! :D

Download this, run the program click the icon that has the video screen and it should tell you what card you have. From there we can decide which drivers you need.

I downloaded pc wizard but the program wasnt displaying anything.
I downloaded AIDA32 instead which I think does the same thing.

I clicked on display, then pci/agp video and there was a list of two things first device was ATI mach64 (264VT/264VT-A/264VT-B) and second was intel i752.

Also under the display header was windows video, in this was video adapter properties this said: Device Description Intel(R) 82810 Graphics controller.
Also in windows video was video adapter properties which said: device description VGA.

Any ideas now what drivers I need to download to get more than 16 colours?
Thanks for the help so far

What version of windows did you just install?

Do you have a graphics card?

The ATI Mach 64 is a very old card, and you can find drivers for it via Google (I didn't see them via ATI's site). Check here... http://www.ncr.com/support/support_drivers_patches.asp?Class=pc_library_ati_clr2

If you don't have the ATI card and are using the onboard video drivers you should be able to find your driver here... Just plug in your Operating System: http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scripts-df-external/Product_Filter.aspx?ProductID=798&lang=eng

    Hope this helps.

Updating monitor drivers can also help. I am, of course, assuming you know that the video card and monitor are capable of doing 256 colors or more.

Im sure I have a video card, I opened my computer and it says on the card PCI Mach64 VT. Ive been looking for drivers for this card but cant find any for windows me!
I have dowloaded and installed intel 82810e graphics controller which didnt seem to do anything.
My monitor is an NEC A526.
It is capable of displaying 256 colours, I'm not sure why it doesnt anymore.
I reinstalled windows because I thought it would be easier than trying to remove PSGuard. How wrong could I be!
