Upgrade in which order?

    I have managed to get a few items to upgrade my pc and I would like to know in which order should the components be put in. The are as follows:

    1. Pentium III 1Ghz processors (SL4C8/SL52R) must chose one.
    2. SATO/150 PCI Controller Card.
    3. Western Digital Caviar SE 160Gb HDD.

    I have been told to purchase thermal paste to apply between the processor and the heatsink and would like advice on how to apply. Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated.
