upgrade problems

just bought myself a 6600gt card for crimbo, put in but had probems with my power supply so upgrade that. Every thing went fine, played half life and few other games last night but today system will not boot up. Everthing powers on ok then there is a long beep and both red and green lights stay on and nothing happens there after. Any help would be much appriciated.

See if it'll post, remove the RAM, and see if there's a beep. If there is, replace the RAM, and remove the video card. If there's a beep, you might need a new motherboard.

 

probably, the graphics card is either bad, or its coming out of its slot
1 long beeb is usually no graphics error, three long beeps are bad memory..
but thats usualy...

 

i removed the new card and put the old card back in but still the same proble 1 beep and then the red & green lights stay on the the system doesn't boot up.

 

thanks all , all ok now, removed the card and memery, replaced it and all works fine now.

Might have been a bad connection, maybe something jarred loose while changing components. Guess we'll never know.
