upgrades, upgrades....whats a guy to do...

Ok, I'm looking to upgrade my computer, heres my current specs:
p4 3.0 HT o'cd to 3.4ghz
512 pc3200
Audigy 2 ZS
Nvidia Geforce FX 5200 AGP (sorry, no PCI-E)
244 Watt PSU

What should I do first? Total, i dont really want to spend over 300. I know my PSU is waaaaay underpowered but thats what came with my comp. Im thinking add another 512 or a gig and get a 6800gs or GT along with a suitable psu to go with it. Ideas?

 

I think that is a good idea, make sure to get a decent psu though, maybe an OCz powerstream.AT LEAST 400W. the 6800 will need a supplemental power connector since it is agp.

 

Your current PSU isnt big enough to run a 6600 or 6800 graphics card!

$300 can get you a 6600gt another 512 men & a good quality PSU.
If ya shop around might be able to up that 6600GT to 6800 gs/gt

Ive heard extra memory mainly helps with higher resolutions but would i notice any performance difference?

 

A 6800GS is better, and extra RAM would be beneficial.

You definitely need a better PSU.

 

Agreed... PSU first, faster video card secound..... as for a PSU a good name brand 400 should be fine. Just remember never ever skimp on a PSU you get what you pay for....
