I have tried to complete the 4 steps to remove spyware in the
"READ ME FIRST BEFORE ASKING FOR SUPPORT: Basic Spyware, Trojan And Virus Removal"
thread, word for word but every time I try to install one of the spyware programs or try an online scan, the installer program/IE window stops responding.
I have tried several anti-virus/spyware programs and all install to the very last step, when it says 100% installed (or the bar is at the end) but then it stops responding.
I have a "mirar" toolbar on my IE, which I did not install and cannot find an uninstall file for.
My IE also will not allow me to access websites other then those listed in my favourites.
My OS is Windows XP Professional.
I am competely stuck and have no idea what to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Please download HOSTER and then follow the below steps.

    • Unzip Hoster to a convenient folder such as C:\Hoster
    • Run Hoster.exe, click Restore Original Hosts and then click OK.
    • Click the X to exit the program.
    - Download HijackThis 1.99.1

    - Unzip the hijackthis.exe file to a folder you create named C:\Program Files\HJT

    - Do NOT run Hijack This from the Desktop, a temp folder, or a sub-folder of C:\Documents and Settings, or choose to run it directly from the downloaded ZIP file.

    - Before running HijackThis: You must close each of the following:your web browser, e-mail client, instant messenger, and programs like notepad, wordpad, MS Word etc. And any other unnecessary running programs.

    - Run HijackThis and save your log file.

    - Post your log as an ATTACHMENT to your next message. (Do NOT copy/paste the log into your post).

    Download LSP - Fix

    Now run LSP-Fix.

Check the Box labeled "I know what I'm doing" and then click on the tasp.dll file (in the “Keep” section) to select it.

Then, Select the >> button to move tasp.dll into the Remove section.

Now, click the Finish Button. When the Repair Summary box appears, click OK.
If it is already in the Remove section, just click Finish.

Was you HJT log from normal boot mode or safe mode? If safe mode, logs should be from normal boot mode unless specifically requested otherwise.

Do you have a Compaq computer? I'm wondering what the below two lines are for.
    O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [Compaqs Service Drivers] compqs.exe
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Compaqs Service Drivers] compqs.exe

Run HJT and fix the beloe three lines while no browsers windows are opened.
    O9 - Extra button: Related - {c95fe080-8f5d-11d2-a20b-00aa003c157a} - C:\WINDOWS\web\related.htm
    O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Show &Related Links - {c95fe080-8f5d-11d2-a20b-00aa003c157a} - C:\WINDOWS\web\related.htm
    O15 - Trusted Zone: http://awbeta.net-nucleus.com (HKLM)

Now reboot and tell me how things are working.
