I am intalling Kubuntu on a laptop, I'm on the "selecting and installing software" step, it gets to 6% then freezes, and comes up with a generic error. Does this require internet access? Can I skip this step for now?

OK, connected to internet, I connected, redid the apt configuration, selected a network mirror, and we're back. it does tasksel, gets to 6%, and says an installation step failed. I'm going to ignore it and go on to the next step for now.

No other errors, I installed GRUB, and I'm booting up now.

*cough* I installed ubuntu on this PC a while ago, and that time I got a GUI...where is my GUI :(
