I have a 7-in-1 card reader attached to a USB port that until recently showed up as four removable drives. Now it doesn't show at all. I tried uninstalling in device manager and then reinstalling. I then get an error saying there is still a problem. In properties it says this - Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19) - Location 0 (Flash Reader). A CD came with the hardware but is only needed for win98 or older. It had always worked fine with XP. Other USB connections like the mouse and printer are fine.

I never had a reply to this problem but I found a solution so I thought I'd post that incase anyone else had the same situation. After mucking about with various complicated things I hit Roll Back Driver. My Flash Reader reappeared. I think it may have been caused by a windows update or installing a creative mp3 player. Whatever caused it the solution was simple. In failed attempts to fix it I did learn a bit about the registry and services etc, so it wasn't all wasted time.

I have a similar situation I think ..My HP all in One printer stopped working all together on my laptop, so I finally uninstalled it, but when I tried to reinstall it, it stopped halfway and I get an error message saying I need to turn off all windows application before retrying "Download incomplete"..I figured this was a fluke and gave up for a while on the installation. Recently I have had an issue with a Seagate USB storage device..Xp is suppose to recognise the devise, but instead mine tries to start the hardware wizard..The devise works fine on all other computers. Any idea what could be causing this?
