USB / Firewire devices not showing up

    I just rid my computer of the dreaded trojandownloader.xs using the guides I found on this site, but unfortunately afterwards none of my USB or Firewire hard drives show up when plugged in.

    For my USB drives, I hear the "connection jingle", but nothing happens. I even right-clicked and installed the "mstask.inf" file, but I'm still getting the same result.

    As for firewire, I don't even get the connection sound. :(
