usb memory stick

I have winxp and my new usb memory stick 1g doesn't show up on 'my computers' when i plug it in. I tried this on another pc and nothing.

No extra drive shows up?

 

nothign shows up in disk management and 'new hardware' icon doesn't show up.
My f drive is my 2nd slave HD, is this the problem, but this also fails on my other pc with f drive available.

 

Sounds like it might be faulty (as you no doubt realise).

Can you return it to your supplier, under warranty, or replacement?

Do other USB sticks work in the same port? Just this one doesn't work?

I assume you have tried all available USB ports.

As Bigbazza says, it could be faulty.
I have had one which saved some files, and when I went to use it again, it was reported as being corrupted. and inaccessable. They can be good, but ....
The only difference now, is that I plug them in on restart, or startup, and let Windows know they are there, same when unplugging, I shut down first, just to be sure - supposed to be hot pluggable.....
