USBScan.sys error installing printer

I am running Windows XP service pack 3.

Original problem was "Incompatible Ink Printer Cartridge"
It was suggested online that re-installing the printer could fix the problem.

I have been unable to install HP Photosmart C4680.

Here is error

The file "usbscan.sys on Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3 CD is needed.

I do not have any cd.

What next

Do you have the following folder?

C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386

You should have it in there. Then copy it to C:\Windows\system32\drivers

 

Decided to install on laptop and now I am back to original problem

Incompatible Printer Cartridge

On first computer it was the black/On the laptop it is the tri color.
Cartridges are new and authentic HP.

 

Have you tried removing an reinstalling the ink cartridges?

 

Removed, cleaned, reinstalled many many times. When I was trying to install on desk top the black was not working, now on the laptop the tri color is not working.
