Used advanced system optimizer on XP lost important word .docs ah!

So the the other day i just used advanced system optimizer's system and disc cleaner & registery cleaner and fixer. Nothing i haven't done before!

All seemed fine! Then when i went looking for several recent important word files i had been working on & they are gone....no idea, i've searched everywhere.

I tried to do a system restore but there is some problem and it says

"this restoration is incomplete. It was interrupted by an improper shutdown" - i'm not even sure if SR will help?

I really need these files, thankyou anyone who can help me here.

WIN XP SP3 - Mword 2007.

 

have you tryed any file recovery tools like these:

for a ntfs system - http://www.majorgeeks.com/FreeUndelete_d4407.html

works on a fat32 system - http://majorgeeks.com/Recuva_-_File_Recovery_d5514.html

i hope this helps you i personaly use recuva when i dlete somthing wrong and as long as it hasnt sat to long you can recover it

 

How do i know if im fat32 or the other one? Its only a few days ago thx

 

Hi there masta1 heres how to find out if your fat32 or ntfs !

To figure out which one you have, double click the My Computer icon on the desktop and right click on your C drive and choose Properties. Look for the "File system" entry. It'll either say NTFS or FAT32.

 

That hasn't worked, it could find files from 2008 but none of the recent ones which have just dissapeared! Help!

 

i know you may have answered this but did you use the search function under start menu?

does your optimizer normaly delete things?

if so do you know its deletion method such as "simple over write" , "DOD 5220.22-M" , "NSA" , or "gutmann"?

you can normally find the method for deletion under option for most programs of that nature, provided it does delete stuff as part of its optimization.

if it used gutmann then your in trouble because it over writes the file 35 times to get rid of every scrap of data in said file
