Used IObit to delete program, should delete registry items also?

I used IObit to delete my newly installed Spyware Blaster which would not open.

After the initial deletion, a window came up that asked if I wanted to delete other items left behind:

    "1723 items
    1720 items in registry
and 3 items in Program Files"

I was afraid to delete the registry items, but should I do that in the future? I cannot bring those up again, of course.

Second question, installed Spyware Blaster twice and both times the program would not open no matter where I tried to open it from.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks, Mishkyn

When programs like that refuse to run, it's best to rule out malware as being the cause. You should follow these instructions. Once we know you are all clean, we can then investigate the issue further, or maybe I will refer you onto the software forum.

    Dear Kestrel,
Thank you for your quick response, which I so appreciated.

I think I discovered the trouble for SpyBlaster not opening--I should have checked this first before bothering you:

Found this on the Wilders Security Forum:

    "SpywareBlaster 5.0 has been released!
    New in this version:
    Google Chrome support"

That must be why it did not open.

Just one more question if you could help:

When IObit removes a program, then offers to finish off more of the program removal by offering to remove a few more items including 1720 registry entries, should I let it remove things from my registry?

I am always so frightened about tampering with the registry, and would greatly appreciate your advice and expertise.
    Thanks, Mishkyn

You should always be extremely careful when using reg scanners of any type. This is why it is always best to back up first. What operating system are you on? There are ways to back up your registry and obviously full back up's are always encouraged.

If you are using IObit Uninstaller and Powerful Scan, I never had an issue deleting literally tens of thousands of registry items.
