I have recently set up a DYNDNS http server on windows xp, everything works..

my question is that I have a domain I bought on Godaddy and would like to use that instead of the one DYNDNS gave me, how would i go about setting this up? I called Godaddy tech support and they were not much help at all..

I just want to simplify my domain name, and use the one im paying 9$ a year for.. thanks! :)

    nice one.

you might be able to configure your dns so when people access www.domainyouwanttouse.com itll resolve to the ip you got from godaddy or the other way around.

    just a suggestion

From what i understand is that it calls on a nameserver of where the site is hosted, like say currently my domain name is godaddy but hosted by hostmonster, so i had to change the nameserver to hostmonsters.. humm.. maybe if i change my name server to my dyndns address?

I'd be interested to see how he explained the process... And I'd like to see if I'm right in what I believe would have been the proper steps.

Pretty much configured my router to the godaddy domain on my IP, instead of the dyndns domain. I tried t forward it as a backup to the dyndns in case my IP changed but it seems to be static so far. Godaddy has a MX something prompt at the control panel where you set it to goto your IP (dyndns / word names will not work), then you have to config all your servers (http, irc, ftp, telnet, ect..) all to the new domain you bought from godaddy, i also recommend the pricy feature which is like 9$ a year

If there are things i can do to make it more secure plz let me know, i am useing synchronet, thanks!
