Usn Journal in error check?

    Hi,

    I ran an error check in response to problems entering the # 1 in messenger live 8.0. The cursor jumps down and right with out entering the data.

    svchost runs at start up at approx 50% cpu usage on a core 2 Duo.

    Here are the questions,
    1. what is Usn Journal ?
    2. Why did it show up in a hard drive error check?
    3. why is svc running cpu 50% ?
    4. why is data # 1 not being entered in messenger?

    Is this a Virus?

    all help is appreciated,
