    Hi there,

Following the huge improvements to a recent laptop after the cleaning instructions from this very forum, the owner of the laptop said they had their second laptop in a similar state.

Honestly, why you choose to have a business laptop and then allow children to use it as they please is beyond me, but here we are.

I have run ccleaner (10GB cleaned!), reset IE, updated various programs, updated drivers, etc., etc.

I've then gone through the readme, including the steps for redirection.

I attach the relevant logs which, to put it mildly, suggest the laptop, is "absolutely riddled with stuff".

    Thanks in advance.

    :)

Rerun Hitman and have it fix everything except C:\MGtools.exe.

Reboot and rescan with Hitman and attach the new log.

Then to be sure, run this:

[IMG] Please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.

    • Shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.
    • Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista or Seven, right-mouse click it and select Run as Administrator.
    • The tool will open and start scanning your system.
    • Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.
    • On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
    • Attach JRT.txt to your next message.

    Hi there,

Hitman Pro won't let me do anything without buying it first.

Is this correct? Should I just buy the license to ensure that removal works? I'm guessing that for some reason it thinks this laptop is a business user, which as I specified in the original post, it is.

Use windows explorer to find and delete:
    C:\Users\ckershaw\Downloads\Flash-PlayerV12 (1).exe
    C:\Users\ckershaw\Downloads\Flash-PlayerV12 (2).exe
    C:\Users\ckershaw\Downloads\Flash-PlayerV12 (3).exe
    C:\Users\ckershaw\Downloads\Flash-PlayerV12.exe

    Then run the JRT program.

Reboot and rescan with Hitman and attach the log.

    Hiya,

As previously, Hitman Pro won't let me delete anything without purchasing.

JRT should have taken care of them, so run it again. The pup's are no big deal. Tell me how things are running now.

    Hiya,

Okay, I kept re-running JRT and then rebooting until the log didn't find anything else to delete.

    It's still weird.

There's what appears to be the top line of a red pop-up with a red x to close in in the bottom left, and whenever any page is loaded, the bottom left states, amongst the following:

    Waiting for fogproducts.com
    Waiting for shoppingguidesonline.com
    Waiting for m.addthis.com
    Waiting for Tag.somthing.something

Therre is a Coupons (geeks.com) pops up in the right hand side.

When I come to majorgeeks.com, the page loads fine, but when I click on the Support Forums link, the font all changes smaller as though the zoom has decreased or the resolution has increased.

I do not appear to be getting any redirects anymore though.

    New logs attached.

...which a reinstall of google chrome seems to have fixed.

Now the only annoying thing left I seem to be faced with is that everytime google chrome starts, it says:

Google has flagged color my facebook as malicious and installation has been prevented.

...but removing c:\users\<user>\AppData\Local\Color My Facebook seems to have fixed...

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:

    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware.
    2. Renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it in step 4 of the READ & RUN ME.
    3. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis. If you don't see it or it will not uninstall, don't worry about it. Just move on to the next step.
    4. If running Vista, Win 7 or Win 8, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Now goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click ( if running Vista, Win7, or Win 8 Right Click and Run As Administrator ) on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    6. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    7. If you are running Win 8, Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below to flush restore points:
      • Refer to the instructions for your WIndows version in this link: Disable And Enable System Restore
      • What we want you to do is to first disable System Restore to flush restore points some of which could be infected.
      • Then we want you to Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.

    8. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
