I have a Netgear model WGR614 v7 installed by Roadrunner when my house service was connected. Usually this device wifi has been pretty solid but recently I've noticed that my listed connection speed in the Intel ProSet wireless sys tray icon varys constantly, both Speed and Signal Quality.

Nothing has changed, same locations same machines same everything. Any ideas what may be causing this glitch/phenomenon? I did change the selected channel on the wifi setup page to see if that might return speed/quality to previous levels. Still seems quite variable.

Please let me know what you think.

    Thanks

It is normal for wireless signals to vary in intensity and clarity at what seems like random, but there are numerous explanations, ranging from distance from the transmitter, other wireless signals in the area (such as cordless phones), signal from non-network devices (microwaves, poorly configured doorbells etc) through to time of day due to atmospheric radiation.
