Ventrilo's and CS

ok i talk in a ventrilo server and when i go to play cs 1.6 or source i cannot use my mic on cs when im using ventrilo. When i try to open another instance of ventrilo i get the error "Faild to open sound input device. Another program might have it open already." it won't let my mic be used in any other program then 1 at a time. when i try to update my drivers from the intel site it actually uninstalls my audio drivers then never installs new ones. Im running win 2k with a Intel® Desktop Board D865PERL can anyone help!
