I'm running a Victoria 4.3 diag scan on a customers HDD and it is coming up with an error. I have it set to remap and it looks like it did this. My question is this: When it remaps a sector with an error does this permanently solve the problem or is it just a band-aid? Should I recommend they purchase a new HDD? Also does anyone know where I could find more info about this program?

    thanks!!!

    Hi

If this computer is a critical company machine then with the start of HDD surface errors then i would be tempted to replace the drive as once the HDD is getting errors then more may come, but if they backup their data frequently and any other scans of the HDDs integrity are coming up clean then this sector which is now flagged as dont use, may not cause any more issues, but if they start to have unexplained application crashes etc then replace drive.

This HDD may last many years even with a sector error, some do. Try running HDD Tune and scan the HDD http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4130.html as a second opinion.
