video connector damage

A family member pulled the monitor plug out without first unscrewing it and took the video connector with it. Can this be fixed or is there a workaround for this problem ? The rest of the system is fine.

what does the video cord that runs to the monitor look like?
are all the pins still there and straight?
does the monitor work when you plug it into the video on the computer?

if the last answer is yes then yes you can fix it but it will require disassembling your computer.

the little do-dads that you screw the monitor plug into has been pulled out. they are usually held in place with nuts on the inside but apparently yours just screw into the sheet metal of the video card. to fix this situation requires you to find some similar do-dads with nuts. a computer shop will be able to help you in that regard.

if you decide to tackle this yourself then you need to shut off the computer and leave it plugged in. then touch the top or sides to discharge any static electricity you may have. remember that static discharges are LETHAL to your computers insides
