Video editors

So I've done a lot of research, and I've tried a lot of other programs to see if they worked. None of them had what I needed. I am basically looking for an alternative to Sony-Vegas Pro12, or iMovie. I would use iMovie, but it doesn't work for windows and I don't want to switch to mac.

Anyways, I just am looking for features like Image/Video overlaying, video cropping, animations not like actual animating (although that would be nice) but just simple transitions like fading from 1 clip to the other,

Trimming, Splitting the clips, Adding a Start-Point/End-Point, Special effects capabilities like explosions or muzzle flares, and a webcam capture feature.

I wouldn't mind budgeting a little bit of money, but if there is anything out there that's free, that would be nice. I just don't have much money to spare, and Sony-Vegas is like 500 dollars. (Not exaggerating)

You could try Movie Edit Pro (there is a 30 day trial download — $70 to $130 thereafter), Avid FreeDV, or even Microsoft Movie Maker if you're running Windows 7.

I tried Avid FreeDV, and it doesn't work on windows 7. Are there any programs like Avid that run on windows 7? Avid looks pretty nice but I don't feel like switching my OS.
