Video File Converter program

hello im not sure if this is the right section to post this (if its not sorry)

i'm wondering if anyone knows of a video converter program that i can use to convert video files on my pc (such as music videos) , to a certain file so that they will be playable on my phone, the phone i have is the new model Chocolate phone from verizon, i have the Mini SD phone card for it which i put music on , but the videos i put dont seem to work, ive tried MPEG , AVI , WMV , but none seem to work, i asked the verizon salesperson and they said it needed to be a "Midi" file or something, if anyone has any tips or help it would be greatly appreciated, thanks

Hmmm... it would be easier to recommend software if we knew EXACTLY what type of file the phone will play. Many phones will play MP4 format videos. Here's a couple of links for you:

The 2nd and 3rd links are multi purpose media file converters and will convert just about any media file/format into any other file/format. The first one is for converting video files only to MP4 format, specifically for phones, PSP, etc. Hopefully one of these links will be what you need. Like I said, I could offer more accurate info if I knew exactly what format your video file needs to be in order to play on your phone correctly, but one of the above apps should work. not sure what it can play. if i remember the guy said it can play WMV / WMA and Mpeg, but like i said i tried moving those formats into the card and it still wouldnt play
